Remember torture?

Remember waterboarding? Abu Ghraib? The violation of habeas corpus? Guantanamo Bay? Remember how Bush and Cheney presided over the detainment without trial of brown people around the world as well as US citizens? Remember how they justified it as necessary for “national security”? Remember how TV networks put out shows like ‘24’ that brainwashed people into believing that torture was normal and necessary — even justified — despite how torture has been proven again and again to lead to faulty information, vengeful enemies, and even more death and destruction in the creation of extremist groups?

Remember how Obama campaigned to end torture? Remember how, when Obama became president, hardly anyone in the mainstream corporate media mentioned torture ever again, despite how Obama blatantly tortured Chelsea Manning, a trans woman veteran who is a whistleblower on US government corruption and war crimes? Remember how Obama suspended habeas corpus so that he and every president after him could detain people without trial indefinitely? Remember how Obama murdered US citizens without even charging them with a crime?

Remember how Trump is torturing Julian Assange right now, along with countless other detainees in prisons around the world? Remember how he’s doing this in the name of US national security with the full blessing of the military industrial complex and Democratic party heavy weights? Remember how even Bernie Sanders refused to say he would pardon Julian Assange? Remember how all Assange did to deserve such torture is expose US government corruption and war crimes which is his literal job as a journalist? Remember how his torture and criminalization has acted as a silencing tactic to journalists all over the world? Remember how no one in the mainstream corporate media is telling you about it, despite how democracy literally hangs on our free press?

Remember. Remember that the moment a Democrat gets into power, they continue and intensify all the outrages of a Republican president. Remember that any information worth knowing is suppressed under a Democrat president with the cooperation of the corporate media. Remember that Democrats use a co-opted and warped version of identity politics to distract the masses from anything that really matters.

Because that’s what’ll happen to the issue of “kids in cages” and anything else you care about.

Remember that four years from now everything will be much worse but you’ll know nothing about it and do nothing about it because your corporate media heroes—and even your so-called independent media heroes—will not have informed you. Remember that you will be ignorant of the real state of world affairs. Remember that you will worship so-called progressive heroes who have already sold their souls to the 1% despite using every social justice buzz word to gather an adoring following.

In four years from now, remember this:

Remember that you were warned over and over again and you still fell for it.
