Child Abuse and the Left

The right wing made child abuse their issue because the left won't talk about it

You know what I’ve noticed?

I’ve noticed that the Left doesn’t seem too concerned about child sex abuse unless Donald J. Trump is allegedly committing it.

It’s not part of any of our conversations. It’s not part of anyone’s analysis of systems of oppression. It’s not part of anyone’s talking points, except a few Black and brown women who are sidelined.

The Left doesn’t talk about it. And if some few of us do talk about it, those people get labeled conspiracy theorists and are laughed off. As if child rape is something to laugh about.

There are two reasons for this:

1. The 2SLGBTQIA+ community has long been demonized by the Right for being predators of children, something we all know to be a total fallacy. Most child sex abusers are heterosexual and cis. So in order to uplift the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, we don’t bring up child rape.

2. The Right cares about child rape and pedophilia. They’ve been researching and discussing this issue for years. And the Left hate the Right with such a passion that we never uplift anything they ever talk about, because that would give them the power of steering the conversation.

There are many direct consequences and indirect side effects of the Left’s refusal to engage with this issue.

1. Child abuse continues unabated, including in Leftist circles. Pedophiles and predators are never confronted.

2. Survivors are ignored, pushed to the side, laughed at, including male survivors.

3. The Right has unlimited space to peddle any anti-2SLGBTQIA+ propaganda they want, unchallenged, despite the fact that 2SLGBTQIA+ children are extremely vulnerable to child abuse from predominantly straight and cis adults.

4. The Left looks as if they don’t care about children, an accusation already thrown at us because of our pro-choice stance. Not considering the pain of child survivors — a valid accusation — on top of the unfounded accusation regarding being pro choice is not a good look for the Left.

5. Survivors will seek out a space where they are listened to, which ends up being only Right wing circles. The Right, meanwhile, has no analysis to actually help them. All they will do is demonize the Left and wring their hands. They will never go after the system that victimizes children, or dismantle the henchmen who protect and perpetuate that system — otherwise known as the cops.

6. The Left remains totally ignorant of how institutionalized pedophilia really is.

7. Children are being trafficked from the border, from foster homes, from juvenile detention centers, the list goes on forever. But that is never truly highlighted by the Left, even though these are leftist issues, and could bring people on the Right to care about them.

8. The cycle of child abuse goes on forever and ever. A survivor might have housing, food, healthcare, a job, community, everything. But if they are a survivor of child sex abuse there is nowhere to turn for help. It doesn’t matter how much economic security they have, Leftists. Survivors of child sex abuse are never safe.

9. Ignoring an issue so vital to the safety of children is indirect child abuse committed by the Left. It is neglect.

10. I could go on and on about how harmful it is that the Left ignores this issue. And if they vote for Joe Biden, which they will, they will cement their position as the movement that literally handed the nation’s children to an alleged child predator. They will be known as the movement that gave unlimited power to an alleged pedophile, despite the fact that they knew what he was. And what does that say about all of us?

Using semantics and purist theory of what constitutes “Left” and what doesn’t is a distraction and totally besides the point. The Democrats are known worldwide to be “Left”. Who they elect as their leader is considered “Left”. If you are opposed to Donald Trump you are “Left” according to the whole world. Deal with that reality and the reality of child sex abuse that is ignored by the Left and don’t derail the conversation.
